St Armand’s is a dog-friendly shopping area right on the waterfront in Sarasota. It offers dog-friendly restaurants in St Armand’s Circle, Sarasota, and is located right on the waterfront. You will often hear live music at night outside its many restaurants, and it hosts many community events throughout the year, from art shows, Halloween events, and an annual Christmas event with a giant Christmas tree. Now, let’s further answer the question “Are dog’s allowed at St. Armand’s Circle?” by sharing some of our favorite restaurants and giving some tips on how to explore this area for socialization training.

    Socialization Training

It’s very important that you provide socialization opportunities for your dog. Well-socialized puppies will be more comfortable and happy around other dogs and people, significantly reducing stress when going out in public, and allowing you to have more opportunities to explore Sarasota together. Socialization training also significantly reduces the likelihood of problem behaviors from developing, such as avoidance and reactivity. For more information on socialization training, you can check out our blogs on “Why Puppy Socialization Matters and Where to Start” and “How to Socialize a Puppy”.

When socializing your dog, you want to expose them to many different kinds of people, dogs, vehicles, and noises, so that they can be comfortable with new places and stimuli. But socialization doesn’t have to be scary! It’s as easy as taking your dog out for a morning coffee while keeping these interactions fun and positive. So bring your puppy’s favorite treats, and enjoy a relaxing waterfront stroll through Sarasota. Now that we have covered socialization training, let’s discuss our favorite dog-friendly restaurants in St Armand’s Circle.

All of these restaurants have dog-friendly seating, making them an easy stop for a fun day out with your pup!

Now that we have covered some of our favorite dog-friendly restaurants, let’s talk about what obedience commands you can teach your dog out in public.

Obedience commands that you can teach your dog in public

Have you been teaching your dog obedience commands at home, and want to further strengthen these commands while out in public? When teaching dog obedience training in Sarasota, we will cover commands including down stays and autosits. Let’s explore these a little more.

    The Autosit

Does your puppy get a little excited when meeting other people and show that love by trying to jump on them? An autosit is where we teach your puppy to politely sit for attention, instead of just getting attention by invading someone’s personal space. This is a win-win situation for everyone, as your puppy can learn some good manners, still get all the attention they crave, and have some yummy treats for sitting first and allowing themselves to be petted.

    Down Stay

A downstay is great because it rewards calm behavior. This is especially important in St. Armand’s, where you can have many different people and other dogs walking past the seating areas at a restaurant. To help encourage your dog to be calm, you can bring along some treats or even a stuffed Kong to keep them busy.
