Are you looking for tasty and healthy treats your dog will love? Pumpkin is high in fiber and is great for digestion. Whether it is mixed into their kibble or used to make homemade treats, it’s an easy way to help with an upset stomach. In this blog, we will discuss some of our favorite pumpkin puree recipes for dogs.

    Peanut butter and pumpkin cookies

Most dogs love peanut butter and pumpkin. So why not combine these flavors into a simple peanut butter and pumpkin cookie recipe?

    Ingredients

    • ½  cup Pumpkin puree
    • 1/3 cup Peanut Butter (Xylitol free)
    • 1 cup oats or whole wheat flour

    Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
    2. Mix the peanut butter and pumpkin in a bowl
    3. Add the oats and stir until a dough is formed. If you need to, you can pour in some water to soften the dough for mixing
    4. Roll out the dough and cut into pieces with cookie cutters. Then place them in a parchment paper lined baking sheet and put into the oven.
    5. Bake the cookies for about 10-15 minutes until the cookies are lightly browned and crispy.
    6. Wait until they cool down and serve. Just remember to keep them away from the edge of the counter to prevent your dog from jumping up for an early taste test.

Now, let’s go over a pumpkin popsicle treat recipe for your dog.

Pumpkin popsicle or pumpkin ice cubes

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup of pumpkin puree
    • 1 cup of greek yogurt
    • Some pieces of fruit can also be added. Dog safe fruits include bananas, strawberries, raspberries, mangoes, apples, pears, oranges, and pineapples.

    Instructions

    • Mix well the pumpkin and greek yogurt in a bowl
    • Pour the mixture into popsicle molds or ice cube trays
    • Add in any fruit pieces
    • Place the recipe into the freezer overnight
    • Once it has been frozen, you can serve

Now, let’s discuss how to make a delicious pumpkin latte for your dog

Pumpkin Puree Latte (with options to make a smoothie or frappe)

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup of milk
    • ½ cup pumpkin puree
    • 1 tablespoon of peanut butter
    • Whipped cream for topping

    Instructions

    1. For the Latte: Mix the milk, pumpkin puree, and peanut butter in a blender until it is smooth
    2. Pour this mixture into your dog’s bowl. And spray the topping with some whipped cream
    3. Serve to your dog and see just how good your dog barista skills are

    Possible variations

Pumpkin puree frappe: Add some ice to the mixture in the blender to make a dog friendly frappe

Pumpkin puree smoothie: To turn it into a smoothie, you can:

    • Swap the milk for some yogurt
    • Mix in 1 cup of pumpkin puree for a thicker drink
