While it’s true that some cats and dogs don’t get along well, others become such good buddies that it’s a joy to watch them playing, cuddling, and just generally interacting with each other. Murphy and Moose are one such pair of adorable interspecies BFFs, a real-life example of cats and dogs living in harmony. In a sweet video that’s been viewed more than 484,000 times on TikTok, Moose the cat keeps a firm grip on Murphy the mini dachshund while he grooms the diminutive dog’s head. It’s easy to see that this dog and cat love each other, and their affectionate bond couldn’t possibly be any sweeter.

Viewers instantly fell head over heels in love with the pair of floofy friends. “They have the best bond omg 🥹😭❤️,” wrote one, while another observed, “Now that’s a cute cuddle puddle 🥰🥰.” One netizen attempted to channel Moose’s thoughts: “Come here and let me love you! 😂”

There’s no guarantee that any given cat and dog will be BFFs, but there are things you can do to help set up your fuzzy friends for success. One viewer of the TikTok video asked, “How long did it take for them to become buddies? My cat is very unimpressed with my 10 week old Doxie at the moment,” and the owner of Murphy and Moose responded, “They were both babies when I got them so they bonded early!”

Young animals are definitely more adaptable and accepting than older pets. But no matter what the cat and dog’s ages may be, it’s crucial to introduce the animals gradually, in a safe, quiet, controlled environment — and, above all else, to be patient with them. Friendships don’t happen instantly. One netizen felt inspired by Murphy and Moose’s loving relationship, writing, “This is convincing me to get a kitty friend for my doxie, my daughter’s dream 🥹❤️.”
