Doing laundry is a tough job, and maybe that is why Zumi, the tortoiseshell cat, wanted to help her mom. A funny Instagram video from @zumi__cat shows the fluffy troublemaker deciding she has an important role in the household chore while her owner is simply trying to get through with the laundry. It seems as though Zumi believes this is now a two-person, or rather one-person-one-cat, job.
Owner shows how cat wants to be involved in household works
The video from @zumi__cat opens with the joke, “Cats when the activity requires 0 cats,” across the screen, showing Zumi really involved in doing the laundry. She starts by going after the laundry bag, batting and scratching at it as her mom pulls clothes out, after which she moves to the side and paws at it again.
When a piece of clothing drops from the bag, the adorable tortoiseshell cat studies it briefly. Later, she even leans her whole body against the hamper as if she is helping her mom hold it in place. And by the time the washing machine is going and the task is basically over, Zumi seems satisfied that she has contributed enough, walking off with the air of someone who has just finished a tiring shift.
Well, cat owners know this kind of “help” very well. Laundry bags move, and fabric carries familiar smells, which makes the whole thing interesting to a cat — so while Zumi may not actually be helping with the wash, she is very much taking part in it in her own way.
Meanwhile, viewers were all praise for the sweet feline’s efforts. One person joked, “Good job protecting your human from the stinky laundry!!!” while another wrote, “The laundry basket had it coming.” A third commenter called Zumi “the supervisor,” and that might just be true.
The video captures the moment when a chore as regular as laundry becomes much funnier because a cat decides it now requires close supervision. And in Zumi’s mind, her mom would have never finished the task without her.
