Are you looking for Tampa Bay dog friendly restaurants that serve brunch? We have collated a list for you that is perfect after a nice morning hike or a trip to a dog park. We will give some tips on puppy socialization, heat safety and how to monitor your dog’s body language.
Buddy Brew Coffee
The first hint that Buddy Brew Coffee is dog friendly is that their logo features Buddy, the Labrador Retriever that inspired its name. Buddy Brew has dog friendly tables at its six Tampa Bay locations. This includes its Downtown location, University of South Florida Campus, Bay to Bay location, Kennedy Boulevard location, Hyde Park, and Armature Works.
As well as serving coffee, smoothies, and over drinks, Buddy Brew offers pastries, toast, biscuits, and sandwiches.
Mad Dogs and Englishmen
Mads Dogs and Englishmen in South Tampa serves brunch every Saturday and Sunday. It offers outdoor dog friendly seating with water bowls available. Their menu includes eggs benedict, scotch egg, and avocado toast.
Mad Dogs and Englishmen is approximately five to ten minutes from the dog friendly Ballast Point Park and MacDill Community Park.
Daily Eats
Daily Eats is a dog friendly restaurant that offers breakfast all day long, including breakfast bowls and omelets. Located in Hyde Park, it is around twenty minutes away from Davis Island Dog Beach and twenty five minutes from Picnic Island Dog Beach.
First Watch
Tampa Bay is home to multiple First Watch restaurants, which serve breakfast, brunch, and includes breakfast tacos, egg sandwiches, waffles, and pancakes. First Watch has dog friendly patios, including its Tampa Bay Riverwalk location. This location is great because it’s within walking distance from Curtis Hixon Waterfront Dog Park, Julian B. Lane Riverfront Dog Park, and Queenie Dog Park.
Another Broken Egg Cafe
Another Broken Egg Cafe serves southern inspired brunch, including waffles, french toast, and eggs benedict. This cafe has a dog friendly outdoor patio and is an approximate fifteen minute drive to Picnic Island Dog Park.
Trip’s Diner
Trip’s Diner serves brunch, including shrimp and grits, waffles, and chicken and biscuits. With dog friendly outdoor seating, it is approximately a twenty minute drive to the dogs parks along the Tampa Bay Riverwalk and twenty minutes from the dog friendly Eureka Springs Park.
Turn every adventure into a socialization opportunity
Going out in public will expose your dog to new people, pets, and noises such as passing cars. With treats and praise, you can help reduce stress and make the experience more enjoyable. We recommend bringing a treat pouch with their favorite snacks.
Would you like more information on socialization training? We have published blogs on “Why socialization matters and where to start” and “What are signs of a dog being poorly socialized”.
Bring a collapsible water bowl for that Tampa Bay heat
We always recommend taking a collapsible water bowl with you, especially with the Tampa Bay humidity. For heat safety tips for those hot summer days, we have published a blog on “Heat safety for dogs”.
Monitor your dog’s comfort level
Your dog’s body language will help tell you if they have any anxiety or fear about being out in public. These signs can include if your dog has their ears back, tail tucked, head lowered, stiff body, or their back is arched. If your dog is showing these signs, it’s probably best to take them home. For more information on how to understand a dog’s body language, we have published a blog on “Identifying body language in dogs”. Which has been published by our co-founder and Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist, Dr. Kristyn Echterling-Savage.
What if my puppy isn’t fully vaccinated?
If your puppy is not fully vaccinated, it’s important to talk to your vet before taking them out to public areas. You should keep your unvaccinated puppy away from unknown dogs and keep them off grassy areas in public. You should wipe your puppy’s paws before returning home, and you can bring a puppy blanket for your dog to lie on at the restaurant.
