A Tuxedo cat named Skipper and his relationship with the couch is a mystery in this hilarious Instagram video from @skipperthetuxedo. He apparently disappears into the couch for at least half an hour every single day, then strolls back out as if nothing happened — and his owner catches him red-handed, admitting this scene is difficult to explain to a pet sitter. The couch is like a getaway for Skipper, and we understand that.

Cat vanishes into the couch every day

The video shows Skipper on a couch, getting deeper and deeper inside the crevices. First, you see a pair of little paws, and then just a bit of the cat’s fur. Finally, he is gone and fully swallowed by the couch’s creases.

A moment later — which, according to the owner, is about 30 minutes — Skipper finally resurfaces and hops off without a care in the world. In the caption, the owner asks, “Anyone else’s cat have weird sleeping spots??” And judging by the comments, the answer is a loud yes.

One viewer said, “We call this ‘cave time’ but our cat hides in the dresser drawers,” while another added, “Normal tuxie behavior.” Many admitted the first time would have sent them into a full search party, with one asking, “The first time he did that how badly did you panic trying to find him?”

Skipper’s habit has a pretty simple explanation. Cats often seek out tight and covered spaces because they make the felines feel safe. Therefore, a narrow gap between cushions can work like a snug hiding spot. Not only does it block noise, but it also limits surprise movements.

The cat’s video shows that he has a preferred spot inside the couch, where he likes to set an imaginary timer for 30 minutes — and he has no interest in explaining his behavior. As for explaining it to the pet sitter, one commenter advised, “Lol just show them this video they will get it.”
