    Company Announcement

Cottonwood Heights, Utah – Go Raw LLC is expanding its February 17, 2026 recall to include an additional lot of Steve’s Real Food Freeze-Dried Chicken Recipe cat and dog food due to potentially low levels of thiamine (Vitamin B1).

Thiamine is an essential water-soluble vitamin required for normal carbohydrate metabolism and neurologic function in both cats and dogs. While both species are susceptible to thiamine deficiency, cats are particularly vulnerable due to their higher dietary requirement for thiamine and limited capacity to compensate for inadequate intake.

Pets who eat a thiamine-deficient diet over an extended period of time may develop signs of deficiency. Early signs can include decreased appetite, vomiting, excessive salivation, weight loss, or poor growth.

As the deficiency progresses, neurological signs may emerge, including ventroflexion of the neck (bending the head toward the floor), mental dullness, vision changes, wobbly walking, circling, falling, and seizures. In severe or prolonged cases, the condition may progress to profound weakness and lethargy. Without intervention, advanced thiamine deficiency can be life-threatening.

If your pet is showing any of these signs, contact your veterinarian right away. When caught and treated early, thiamine deficiency is generally reversible, and most pets respond well to supplementation and supportive care.

    What Pet Parents Should Do

Pet parents who purchased the affected product should stop feeding it immediately and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund or replacement.

Go Raw LLC has stated that all Steve’s Real Food products currently in distribution have been manufactured with an updated vitamin premix formulation. The company confirmed that the affected lot is no longer present in distribution channels. While it does not believe the affected product is available for purchase, the brand initiated the voluntary recall out of an abundance of caution.
